17-7PH is a controlled phase transformation precipitation hardening stainless steel obtained by adding Al to 18-8 austenitic stainless steel. When the steel is cooled to room temperature during solution treatment, it still retains the austenite structure, so it is easy to process and shape. After appropriate treatment, it will eventually transform into a martensite structure and reach a high strength level. This steel has poor low-temperature toughness and becomes brittle below -100°C. The corrosion performance is better than that of general martensitic stainless steel.

Application: This standard wire material can be used to make fasteners or standard parts such as wire retaining rings and special-shaped springs. Typically used for springs requiring corrosion resistance and long-term service at 316°C (600°F), but use is not limited to such applications. During the manufacturing process, the strength of this cold-drawn steel wire will be compromised if the part requires welding.

17-7PH can replace some spring steel, austenitic stainless steel or martensitic stainless steel due to its good corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, and good strength and toughness combination. This steel grade has different strength according to different heat treatment systems. Wide range, suitable for parts with various strength requirements
